Helping Each Other Can Make The World Better

Investing in Change. Empowering Churches. Building Communities.
Who We Are

The United Methodist City Society (UMCS) is a vibrant force for good in New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Fairfield County, Connecticut. We’ve been serving the community for over 180 years, ever since our Methodist foremothers saw the need to help children and families beyond the walls of the church.

UMCS acts as a multi-faceted service organization. We partner with over 200 Methodist churches to make a real difference. Here are some of the ways we support our communities:

Funding: We provide crucial operational grants to churches and social service programs, allowing them to continue their vital work.

Capacity Building: We offer training and coaching to church leaders, equipping them to better serve their communities.

Programs: Through our church partnerships, we help support a wide range of programs, including:

After-school programs

Addiction treatment centers

Summer camps

Food pantries and soup kitchens

Senior centers

Affordable housing initiatives
