April Callender, Associate Executive Director


Ms. April Callender serves as the Associate Executive Director of the City Society. Ms. Callender began her career at UMCS as the Director of Children’s Programs and was the first person to serve the agency in that capacity. Prior to joining the City Society, Ms. Callender served as a Senior Program Associate at the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies and a Senior Program Specialist at the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York.

Trudy Grove, Chief Financial Officer

Trudy Grove is the Chief Financial Officer of the Society.  She began working with the mission agency when Dr. Henry Whyman was the Executive Director of the New York City Society of the Meth. Church.  Her more than 40 years of work with the Society has helped the Board and the staff know the corporate history.

Ms. Grove serves on the Board of Managers of Five Points Mission, as the Treasurer.  She is currently the City Society’s representative to the Chinese Methodist Church Corporation Board.

Through her work with the City Society, Ms. Grove serves on the Board of Directors and is Treasurer of Anchor House, Inc., which has two residential facilities, one for men, on Bergen Street in Brooklyn, and a second facility for women, on Park Place in Brooklyn.

Also through her work with the City Society, Ms. Grove serves on the Board of Directors of the Linden Hill Methodist Cemetery Corporation, located in Ridgewood, Queens.

Outside of her work with the United Methodist City Society, Ms. Grove is an active member of the Church of the Village, a Progressive United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in the formation of this congregation which is a merger of three churches in the Greenwich Village Community, Metropolitan Duane United Methodist Church, Washington Square United Methodist Church, and the Church of All Nations.

Young Huh, Bookkeeper

Ms. Young Huh is the bookkeeper of the City Society. Before she began her career at the City Society, Ms. Huh served as a clerk for 4 years at the Korean Commercial Bank (now Woori Bank) in New York
